A rectory outbuilding near Northleach
c. 1750
Ashlar is stone cut square and laid with fine joints — the expensive way to build, and the reason Cotswold buildings of any standing look the way they do.
These were dressed by hand, and you can still read the chisel work across the faces if you catch it in low sun. The colour is the genuine article: two and a half centuries of weather, not a stain.
